Optimism for the New Year

What a year it has been, having opened our second bakery-cafe in September of 2008. It's located at 728 S. University Boulevard in Denver, Colorado (in the historic Bonnie Brae neighborhood). More production! More employees! More customers! ...and more hours, of course.... Still trying to balance work life and home life. Would love to take a vacation sometime in the next twelve months. In the meantime, we are enjoying the opportunity to be of service to our clients and we are working hard to get through these tough economic times. Spring is a time of renewal and, of course, we are looking forward to planning another summer garden.

Bonjour and Bonne Année!

Welcome to the new year and our new blog! As we are in year three of our business (and year two at retail), we have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to. Of course, we love our family, friends and loyal customers! Without you, we would be without purpose. In this new year, we are looking forward to our bakery, cafe and catering menu revisions...adding new and delicious items on all. As well, we are incorporating many new and healthy ingredients and food processing techniques. For instance, although I love our Campagne bread I felt compelled to bring it into a healthier light and have started to add flax meal, a nutty meal made from ground flax seeds that adds fiber, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Our bread is still delicious and now has even more nutrition. As always, we make our soups from scratch and come summer will once again be using home-grown vegetables and herbs from our potager. It's very cold here now, but I enjoy dreaming about the early-Spring, Summer and early-Fall crops! My best to all and hope that you are staying warm and eating well.
